Instead of sketching, I have been working on the poppy painting for my mom. She asked me to paint it, but I think it will make a good birthday present as well. I will have photos coming soon.

Should have more art updates soon. I am moving around a lot more.

Would like to start painting something soon :)

I think I may even be getting out to run little errands tomorrow.

Tomorrow will be day 5 of recovery. :3

My leg/foot.

I have been looking at my legs in bed quite often these days. This drawing isn't finished yet and I will post an updated version once it is.
I want to start painting again. I feel kind of dull... and boring. I think it's just one of those days. I have four more weeks to go with this oral splint on. I can't talk or open my mouth. Technically three and a half weeks.

The recovery is going well though. :)

I tried.

But yes, it's disproportionate, has an extra leg, and has a very cartoonish aspect to it. I plan on drawing more throughout the days.

This was ink and chalk pastel.
Didn't really finish it either...

I had this little idea come to me when I was half asleep the other morning. I remembered how the day before I was spitting out blood and mucous and just being miserable. I related that feeling to that of a slimy sea creature oozing out of my mouth.

I would like to actually re-do this idea though. May make a nice painting.
So, my little drawing of the day turned out quite badly. First if all, the octopus was supposed to be a squid and it wound up with nine legs versus eight. It didn't turn out all how I wanted it to. I will post a photo of it later. Drawing on pain medicine is awful. >:(
I think today will be the day I will start drawing again. I had a sudden sprout of inspiration last night as I was drifting off to sleep after taking some pain meds. I just never got around to it. Felt so fuzzy due to broken sleep patterns.

I also got some prisma color chalk pastels in the mail from Gavin and I would like to use them. I am hoping to have something done by the end of the day.

Sorry if there are any typos in this post (or future ones, for that matter). I am not as coherent as I should be.

Bird of Paradise.

A batik I did in eighth grade. My mom had it framed and everything. I liked doing this project. I was really surprised we got to do this in middle school. Some fabric, beeswax, and dye. (:

Kiwi.

This lovely, little green being is a model for most of my bird drawings. x)
She didn't like me pointing my camera at her, but she loves cuddling and being scratched by her ear.
I love her.

Surgery tomorrow morning at eleven. I'm not too thrilled, but it'll be worth it. I'm really tired of not being able to bite into sammiches correctly (or much else, for that matter). I'm curious to know what type of subtle changes there will be. I'm sure the distance between my chin to the tip of my nose will decrease slightly. It will be an interesting process.

...

I plan on taking photos in order to document the process, but I probably wont post them. I may use them in my work somehow though or just the concepts.

Throwing some ideas down on paper. The rough bird sketches are my conure, Kiwi. (:
Collage.
Ink.
Graphite.
Vine Charcoal.
Colored Pencil.
Water Color.

Eggs and gears.

My shoes.

Sitting at a tattoo shop waiting for my friend's back piece session to get over with.

My first 'real' acrylic painting.

This was the first assignment I did for Mrs. Hawley's painting class (year one). I remember I spent three months on this thing and it was a small canvas frame (forgot the measurements). It took me awhile to get used to painting, but now I've gotten a lot more comfortable. :3

Owls.

Fruit/veggie still life. Colored chalk.
Mrs. Hawley's honey bee still life. Cante crayon.
Charcoal curtain/ribbon still life. We were to add three of our eyes into the composition as well.

Dot Painting.

The inspiration that created this assigned assignment came from aboriginal artwork. We were supposed to paint in dots and everything was supposed to be symbolic. Everyone's turned out quite differently from one another and that was cool.

Ribbon painting. This thing was tedious.
I'm going to help my boyfriend design some pattern thingies for things like light switches. I laughed.

Skeletons.

This mural is about five by seven feet. This was my senior culminating project.
One of my cockatiels.
Bird skeleton.

Blind contour owls.
Small painting of a classmate.
Quick ink sketch.

Blue self portrait.

I had a looot of self portrait assignments this year. This is the third of four.

Oil pastel owl/bird still life.

Shoes inspired by Alphonse Mucha.

Oil pastel on canvas.

I enjoyed the oil pastel, terpenoid, and canvas method.

Playground pipes:

One of the worst assignments I've ever received, but I like how it turned out. I liked making the pipes slightly disproportionate too.
Some quick doodles of my conure, Kiwi.
WWII helmet, I think. Nothing too interesting.
This was a rough sketch of my boyfriend laying down, actually. I felt like scribbling him down and using markers.

Self portrait for Painting class.

I think this is one of my favorite paintings. I like the greens and yellows. This painting really pushed me out of my little 'box', which is why it's so important to me. I submitted it to the AP board though, so it's currently not in my possession. I want my work back soon. I also want to know what my score is... I'm kind of nervous for that.
This is part of the new sketchbook/journal thing I'm creating. I started a new one on behalf of my jaw surgery. That's why I drew my mouth. The collage was just to experiment, ect. I usually don't do unorganized work like this, but I have been having trouble focusing due to stress.

A little bit about me:

I am an eighteen year old female who finds comfort in painting, drawing, collaging, and anything of that sort. I like experimenting with different concepts and mediums and I'm trying to expand myself more. I am located in the Inland Pacific Northwest (unfortunately) and have a desire to go to Seattle.

My original plan:
Attending Cornish College of the Arts.

Why it didn't work out for Fall 2011:
I have to undergo jaw surgery due to a bad jaw that I have, unfortunately. Luckily, my acceptance never gets terminated and they are willing to work with me in hopes that I can transfer in as a sophomore for Fall 2012.

Current plan:
Go to a community college in my city for a year and attempt to take classes similar to the ones required at Cornish for freshman year. Fortunately, this community college has a wonderful art program. My admissions counselors also agreed.

I also plan on using this recovery process as a focal point for my work. It was a great suggestion from the man who reviewed my portfolio.
